Museum of Ukrainian Culture in Svidnik is one of a kind in Slovakia. Its mission is to document consecutive stages of cultural-historical, political and social development of Ruthenians and Ukrainians in Slovakia from the distant past until today. The museum was opened in 1956 in Presov and moved to Svidnik in 1964. The museum systematically gathers collections, carries scientific research, is involved in publishing popular and scientific, cultural and educational works.

On the area of 1700 m2 the museum documents cultural and historical development of the Ukrainian-Ruthenian community living in Slovakia since the old days until today.

Exhibition:
THE MAN AND THE NATURE
Presented is the Carpathian flora and fauna as a main factor which influences the way of life and economic and social development, arranged chronologically starting in the distant past through feudal times, capitalism until today. Presented are unique archeological findings – tusk and tooth of a mammoth from the area of Svidnik, axes, hammers, amphoras, medieval documents related to the establishing of a village, documents granting the West-Ukrainian citizenship, examples of material and immaterial culture. Patriotism is documented in literary works of Ruthenians and Ukrainians
