Admission is free, voluntary donations by visitors are used for the missionary purposes of the congregation.


This Museum of Missionary Sisters, opened and consecrated by Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk in 2003, is located in the General House of Michaelite Sisters in Miejsce Piastowe. The museum is one of the material mementos of the celebrations of the 75th Anniversary of the Church Approval of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Michael Archangel.
In four rooms on the lower ground floor of the House gathered are collections started in the ’70s of the 20th c. by the missionary sisters on assignments in Africa as well as gifts and donations from different people. Artifacts come mainly from different African countries. However, presented are also artifacts from other continents, the artifact documenting spiritual and material culture of different parts of the world and especially Africa. The first was Libya in the years of 1976 – 1993, since 1984 until today in Cameroon in two mission posts in Nguelemendouka and Betare-Oya. Present here are paintings created with paints made from miscellaneous plants and depicting everyday life scenes: catching fish, women’s work, dances, pictures made of colorful sand grains or butterfly wings, things made from raffia, numerous sculptures/figures from ebony and ivory, musical instruments, everyday use equipment, hunting arms, machetes, masks, raffia and bamboo toys made by children.
The museum presents life and culture of Africa and other places, missionary activity of church and work of the missionary sisters.
Apart from the main exhibition visitors may visit also a Memory Chamber dedicated to God’s servant Anna Kaworek (1872-1936), co-founder of the congregation. Collected and cherished mementos related to her document the beginnings of the Congregation of Michaelite Sisters.
On December 30th, 2006, another section of the museum was opened and consecrated by Archbishop Edward Nowak from Rome, Secretary of the Canonizing Affairs. This section is devoted to God’s Servant John Paul the 2nd and Blessed father Bronis³aw Markiewicz (1842-1912) – a charismatic priest and founder of Michaelite Congregations, apostle of sobriety, great teacher of children and the youth who by saying: “When you give a great pope to the world God will rise you (Poles) to the highest” foretold coming of the election of the Polish pope.
