The Ignacy Łukasiewicz Museum of Oil and Gas Industry in Bóbrka
is a very unique place worldwide. It was created on the grounds
of the world oldest oil mine established in 1854 by Ignacy Łukasiewicz
– father of the Polish and world oil industry.
The original aim of starting this museum here was the idea of
preserving and saving from devastation the authentic buildings,
machinery and equipment, tools and documents testifying to the
origins of the Polish oil industry.
Numerous pieces of ancient machinery, equipment
and tools moved in here from other old oil field of Podkarpacie
were set in three sectors:
1. oil producing
2. oil refining
3. gas industry
Objects from the Łukasiewicz times:
- worldwide unique and still operating oil wells Franek and Janina
- obelisk commemorating opening of the oil mine in Bóbrka
- forge (1856)
- mechanic shop (1864)
- reconstructed hand-operated drill rig (1862)
- boiler house with a steam boiler (1867)
Things to see in the historic administration building, so called
Łukasiewicz’ House
- Łukasiewicz related mementos
- accessories, symbols of oil exploration traditions
- maps and geological collections, drill cores and fossils
- plan of the Bóbrka mine dated 1879
- collection of kerosene lamps
In the exposition halls of the Main Exhibition Pavilion
visitor may see exhibits related to the whole Polish oil sector
as well as:
- conference room
- audio-visual room
- lounge for visitors
- kiosk with mementos and keep-sakes

The majority of exhibits of the Bóbrka museum is
located on a few hectares of park cross cut by walking paths set
in a way so that visitors can see the artefacts and at the same
time enjoy the unique atmosphere of the museum which smells the
forest and oil.
